The structure consists of right and left front side frames (31R,L) extending along either side of a vehicle body (30), a front bumper (36) fastened to the front ends of the side frames, and right and left brackets (45) extending downwards from the side frame fronts. The brackets each have first and second sections, connected to the side frames via fasteners and welding. The lower parts of the brackets are connected via a front cross strut (41).
