An insulation assembly (16) for a forced gas unit (10) comprises a facing layer (20) and a porous insulation layer (18) joined together by an adhesive (24). The facing layer includes pressure-balancing (20c, 20d) and non-pressure-balancing regions (20e). Perforations (26) are formed in the facing layer after the facing layer and the insulation layer are joined together and after the adhesive is cured. The perforations allow gas to flow through the facing layer so as to adequately balance the static pressures acting on the exposed and non-exposed surfaces of the facing layer.
