The assembly incorporates a closed profile (19) extending in transverse vehicle direction and formed by a number of pressed molded components, e.g. front instrument panel (1) and lower cross strut (7) for the panel. An extruded stiffener (17) extends into the interior of the profile. A diecast wishbone arm holder (6) has projecting sections (15a,b), which are welded to the inside of the profile, and which is also welded to the outer surface of the panel strut.
