A battery management circuit (21) built in an electronic device includes a communication processing circuit (26) for communicating battery information signals with the CPU in an intelligent battery. The battery information signals indicate the state of operation of the intelligent battery. When an abnormality is found in the battery information signal from the communication processing circuit (26), the battery control circuit (25) reads the voltage value detected by a voltage detection circuit (33). If the voltage value is normal, the operation voltage is maintained unchanged. The battery management circuit (21) controls the operation of the intelligent battery, rather than instantly interrupting the operation, even if an abnormality is found in the battery information signal. |
