Independent internal buffer areas for the respective types of access to a hard disk are provided. For each access, the corresponding internal buffer is used, and hence for an access by the processor and an access by a video processor, an internal buffer is not commonly used, ensuring the continuity of access to the hard disk for recording/reproducing. By specifying an internal buffer to be used for an access to a file, the processor can randomly access a file where video data has been recorded or is being recorded.
