REINFORCED AREAL IMPLANT

A reinforced areal implant particularly suitable to the repair of inguinal hernias has a net-type basic structure with a pore size of 1.5 mm to 4.0 mm and comprises textile strengthening elements, whose bending resistance, measured in a three-point flexibility test at a support length of 20 mm, is in the range 0.015 N/mm to 0.4 N/mm. The basic structure preferably contains a non-absorbable material and additionally an absorbable multifilament yarn.
