GAS DISCHARGE DISPLAY UNIT

PURPOSE: A gas discharge display unit is provided to improve a discharge start voltage and a luminance characteristic by adding a particular gas to an existing mixed gas having a discharge characteristic of a particular mixed gas in order to display gradation. CONSTITUTION: A gas discharge display unit is formed with a cathode and an anode arranged on two substrates with beam penetration, a barrier rib for preventing a crosstalk between pixels, and a discharge gas for generating ultraviolet rays in an inner space of the barrier rib. The discharge gas is formed by adding Ar having density of 0.001 to 1.0 percent to a mixed gas including Xe of 4 percents. The binary mixed gas including Xe is formed with Ne and Xe or He and Xe. In the mixed gas including Ar, a mixed ratio of Ar corresponds to 0.3 to 0.7 percent.
