A process for making a food product 68 comprises the steps of providing a mixture of food ingredients 66 having a moisture level sufficient to permit reduction of particle size and including a component selected from fruits, cheeses, cookie materials, seasonings and snack chips; and passing said mixture through a series of progressively smaller refining gaps 52a-52d each formed between closely adjacent, axially rotatable rollers 50a-50d so as to reduce the particle size thereof The process may consist of passing the mixture through a two roll refiner (Fig 2) prior to passing it through a five roll refiner. |
