The invention relates to a method of notifying an incoming call attempt to a user whose telephone line is occupied by a connection established by the user to a data communication network. According to the invention, the method consists in communicating to the server connected to the data communication network an identifier of the user's telephone line in association with a network address assigned to the user in the data communication network as well as forwarding all incoming calls addressed to that user to the server.
