A method for controlling a privacy protection mode and a mobile communication terminal for performing the method are provided to carry out authentication procedures twice when the terminal operates in privacy operation mode, thus other people cannot confirm information stored in a user's terminal except the user. A storage unit(110) stores preset tag information and a temperature range. An RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) reader(120) receives tag information from an RFID tag. A controller(130) senses temperature if the received tag information is identical with the stored tag information. If the sensed temperature is included within the prestored temperature range, the controller releases a privacy protection mode, and if not, the controller maintains the privacy protection mode. A temperature sensor(140) senses the touch of a user and measures the body temperature of the user.
