PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a device and method for controlling electronic mails which efficiently utilizes a disk device by generally required disk device capacity, stores electronic mails as long as possible and is operated without a trouble in a mail server. SOLUTION: The using situation of a mail storing part 3A is obtained by a using situation obtaining part 10, a past using situation is obtained from a warning mail holding part 4, and whether using situation is improved is confirmed by a using situation confirming part 14. When it is not improved, a warning mail for warning a user that it is not improved is originated from a warning mail originating part 12 and held in the part 4. When it is improved, the warning mail held in the part 4 is deleted. The user receiving the warning mail can take an operation of deleting an unnecessary electronic mail from the mail storing part 3 and the using situation of the part 3 is improved.
