PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk driving device enabled to reduce an influence of cyclic variation of a rotating optical disk and set optimal recording power with accuracy. SOLUTION: This device is provided with mean value calculating means (S30, S32) for dividing a prescribed test area into plural areas, recording recording power in each area by similarly varying it, and calculating a mean value of plural characteristic values obtained from reproduced signals of the plural areas, and optimal recording power setting means (S34, S36) for setting optimal recording power based on the mean value of the plural characteristic values. Consequently, it is possible to reduce an influence of cyclic variation of an optical disk by the mean value of the characteristic values obtained the plural areas of different angular positions of the optical disk, and set the optimal recording power with accuracy.
