摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform denitrification by a simple means by infiltrating activated sludge in a filter block, then passing a treated liquid through the surface layer of the filter block and reducing nitrate nitrogen in the treated liquid by microorganism in the filter block to remove the same as nitrogen gas. SOLUTION: At first, hydrophilizing treatment is applied to carbon fibers of a bulky web prior to infiltrating activated sludge in a filter block 20. The bulky web is immersed in ozone water to oxidize the surfaces of carbon fibers. In infiltrating activated sludge, activated sludge is injected in the liquid of a tank in an amt. about 1/2-1/10 the vol. of the liquid in the tank and a pump 30 is operated while aeration is performed by an aerator 40 to circulate the liquid through the filter block 20. After activated sludge is sufficiently infiltrated in the filter block 20, when a treated liquid containing a nitrogen pollutant component is circulated, the nitrate nitrogen component in the treated liquid is infiltrated in the filter block 20 and reduced by the action of denitrifier of facultative anaerobes held under an anaerobic condition to be discharged and removed as nitrogen gas.</p>
