PURPOSE: A backlight unit for liquid crystal display device is provided to reduce production costs and simplify assembling and repairing through removal of a light guide plate, reflecting plate, and spreading plate, and to maximize transmission efficiency of light into the liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit for liquid crystal display device comprises a mold frame(10) having the upper surface slanted to the other side from one side and oval groove(11), a fluorescent lamp(10) arranged to the focal position of the groove, a lamp reflector(20) parallel reflecting the light of the fluorescent into the incline, and a reflecting plate(30) reflecting the reflected light toward the liquid crystal panel(8). A directly raying plate(40) is installed to the inlet of the groove. The leakage of the light is prevented because the light radiated from the fluorescent is transmitted through just the directly raying plate.
