PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal element which does not generate any disclination line and has a light property even when voltage is not applied by forming a liquid crystal layer by utilizing a liquid crystal composite comprising a liquid crystal material, a polymeric polymer material and a specific polymeric compound. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal element has a pair of substrates which are opposed to each other via a space and one of which is transparent and a liquid crystal layer provided in the space. The liquid crystal layer has a liquid crystal region and a polymer wall provided so as to enclose the liquid crystal region and consists of a liquid crystal composite containing a liquid crystal material, a polymeric polymer material and one kind of polymeric compound. The polymeric compound is expressed by the formula I In the formula I, A denotes a hydrogen atom or is expressed by the formula II, B denotes a hydrogen atom or is expressed by the formula III and Y1-Y4 each independently denotes a hydrogen or fluorine atom. But A and B are not simultaneously hydrogen atoms. In the formulae II and III, X1 and X2 each independently denotes a hydrogen atom or a methine group, m and n each denotes an integer of 0-14 and p and q each denotes 0 or 1. |
