PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing the occurrence of display defect caused by defect of liquid crystal alignment due to abnormality of an alignment layer. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with plural pixel electrodes 9a which are arranged in a matrix form, plural thin film transistor(TFT) 30 for switching pixels, plural data lines 6a and plural scanning lines 3a on a TFT array substrate 10, and also a counter electrode 21 on a counter substrate 20. Therein, the alignment layers 16, 22 are disposed only on the parts corresponding to the non-display region on the surface of the liquid crystal layer 50 side on both of the substrates 10, 20. |
