<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify mounting work of a flat cable on a connector housing and to prevent breakage, etc., of conductors. SOLUTION: In this connector for a flat cable, a pressing plate 55 entering between two elastic connection pieces 43 is formed on an under surface of a cover plate 50, and its hind end face 55B is a vertical surface while the lower end side of its fore end face 55A is a backward receding taper surface. When the cover plate 50 is put in position, the pressing plate 55 forces a conductor 14 in between the fore and hind elastic connection pieces 43. At first, the conductor 14 is sandwiched only between the hind end face 55B and the hind elastic connection piece 43 leaving a gap between the tapered fore end face 55A and the fore elastic connection piece 43. When the pressing plate 55 is successively forced in, because the base end side of the conductor 14 is constricted, the free end side is pulled back to be forced in between the fore end face 55A and the fore elastic connection piece 43. At last, the conductor 14 is elastically sandwiched between hook parts 44 of the two elastic connection pieces 43 and the fore and hind end faces 55A, 55B of the pressing part 55.</p> |
