PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain 1R-cis, 1R'-cis-atracurium salt substantially containing no other geometric isomer and optical isomer. SOLUTION: This 1R-cis or 1R'-cis isomer of 2',2'-(3,11-dioxo-4,10- dioxatridecylene)-bis-(1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6,7-dimethoxy-2-methyl-1- veratrylisoquinolinium) salt substantially contains substantially no other geometric isomer and optical isomer. The 1R-cis or 1'R-cis isomer exhibits pharmacologically advantageous combination of neuromuscular blocking activities extremely larger than a well-known mixture of the geometric isomer and optical isomer, small histamine-releasing activities, and small latent bad effect affecting on autonomic nervous system (blocking of sympathetic nerve and parasympathetic nerve) in equivalent neuromuscular blocking level. |
