PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze a substance to be inspected, simply, quickly and with high accuracy by the substitution and discharge reaction of the substance to be inspected (e.g. an antigen), a labeling specific binding substance (e.g. an antibody) and a weak affinity substance [e.g. a substance whose affinity is weaker than that of the antigen and which is bound to a specific binding substance (an antigen)] with a complex. SOLUTION: A weak affinity substance is immobilized to a detecting layer 14, a labeling specific binding substance is bound in advance to it, and a complex is formed. A water absorbing layer 12 is formed under the detecting layer. Only when a liquid sample which contains substance to be inspected is inspected, a substitution and discharge reaction progresses inside the detecting layer, and the discharged labeling specific binding substance is moved to the water absorbing layer so as to be removed due to the diffusion and the movement of the liquid sample inside this analytical element. As a result, a cleaning operation or the like is not required. The amount of the labeling specific binding substance which is left in the detecting layer according to the amount of the substance to be inspected can be measured easily on the basis of the absorption of labeling coloring particles. Also the amount of the labeling specific binding substance which is shifted to the water absorbing layer can be detected. Since the substance to be inspected is analyzed by the dry analytical element, it can deal easily with a small measuring apparatus.
