PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE 3-(4-METHOXYPHENYL)GLYCIDIC ACID ESTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially producing an optically active 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)glycidic acid ester having a high optical purity and chemical purity by improving efficiency of enantioselective transesterification reaction and recovery of objective substance after the reaction. SOLUTION: A racemic trans-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)glycidic acid ester in which the number of carbon atoms constituting the ester is 1-4 and a 9-18C long-chain alcohol and/or an ester containing 4-36 total carbon atoms are subjected to a transesterification reaction with an enantioselective enzyme and the reaction product is crystallized by using a proper solvent and separated to give a (2R,3 S)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)glycidic acid ester having high optical purity and chemical purity.
