PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject model animal having a cancer or tumor, thereby enabling the fundamental research about the onset mechanism for cancerous pain and also enabling relevant analgesics to be developed and related medicaments to be screened through judging the analgesic effect of such medicaments. SOLUTION: This model animal has a (transplanted) cancer or tumor, pref. having a cutaneous cancer transplanted on the leg, and it is preferable that one week or longer has elapsed after such a cancer or tumor is transplanted. Furthermore, it is preferable that a nociceptive stimulus is given to such a model animal and its escaping behavior in response to the above stimulus is observed to rate cancerous pain intensity, and such a model animal is administered with a substance to rate its cancerous pain-analgesic effect to rate the cancerous pain intensity on the model animal, and based on the result, the cancerous pain analgesic effect of the above substance is assayed.
