PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio terminal which can reduce power consumption in a radio communication system whose service area is narrow. SOLUTION: In a radio terminal 1 which can use a radio communication system whose service area is narrow, a service area recognition part 4 collates a result obtained by permitting a position recognition part 2 to recognize the position of the radio terminal 1 itself by GPS or the like with information on the service area that can use the radio communication system accumulated in a service area information accumulation part 3. It is recognized whether the radio terminal 1 itself exists in the service area or not. The power of a reception part 6 of the radio communication system is turned on only in the service area with control of a reception control part 5 corresponding to the recognized result and the power of the reception part 6 of the radio communication system is turned off in a part out of the service area.
