PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration in the quality of a product by drawing the surface to be formed of a press blank in the unwrikled state and preventing entrance of wrinkles to the surface of a pressed product. SOLUTION: In this pressing method in which by using a blank holding face providing a stepped part for forming bent part on the edges of a press blank W, the blank holding is executed while deforming the press blank W so as to match to the blank holding face, by the deformation of a blank at the time of forming the bent part on the edge of the blank at the time of executing the blank holding of the press blank, a recess expected part is formed before starting the blank holding or at the time of starting the blank holding so that a recess is not generated on the formed surface of the press blank where is not restrained by the blank holding face. That is, because the recess expected part is pressed with a punch at the time of starting the blank holding, even when the deformation of the blank at the time of bending the edge of the press blank by the stepped part of the blank holding face is ready to reach the forming surface of the press blank, the recess is not generated on the formed surface.
