EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION FOR FLOW CASTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of providing a resin board having good accuracy of thickness and a transparent resin board for a liquid crystal display element by a flow casting method by regulating the viscosity within a specific range. SOLUTION: The viscosity at 25 deg.C is regulated within the range of 50-400 poise. The composition preferably comprises (A) an epoxy resin and (B) an acid anhydride-based hardening agent. The composition A is preferably the epoxy resin containing 25-70 wt.% epoxy resin solid at normal temperature, e.g. an alicyclic epoxy resin of formula I [B is formula II; (a)+b+c=15]}. The component B is preferably a compound obtained by partially esterifying the acid anhydride-based hardening agent such as 4-methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride preferably with an alcohol of formula III, preferably in an amount regulated so that the amount of the hydroxy group of the alcohol may be 0.1-0.6 eq. based on 1 eq. acid anhydride group.
