PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording and reproducing device having functions of detecting an attitude, hand shake, or the like without arranging an attitude detector for detecting the attitude. SOLUTION: The image recording and reproducing device 20 is provided with a moving part 21 and detects variation in the attitude of the image recording and reproducing device 20 by polarity of an electric signal of a driving circuit of the moving part 21, generated by a change in a direction of a gravity load to the moving part 21 caused by the change in the attitude of the image recording and reproducing device 20. Thus, since the change in the attitude of the image recording and reproducing device 20 can be detected from the polarity of the electric signal in the driving circuit of the moving part 21 generated by the change in the direction of the gravity load to the moving part, this eliminates the need for newly arranging a device for detecting the attitude, and as a result, the image recording and reproducing device can be reduced in size and further in cost.
