A device for encoding plug-in modules reliably prevents a plug-in module with a 24 V direct voltage supply from being inserted directly to the right of a plug-in module with a 230 V alternating voltage supply in a device for connecting external lines fitted with equidistant, adjacent receptacles for plug-in modules.
