摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dig ahead separately from a shield machine and re-unify the separated excavators again by constituting of a first and a second shield machine comprising a front trunk part, a middle trunk part, and a rear trunk part and commonly using the rear trunk part by the first and the second shield machine. SOLUTION: After digging ahead to a prescribed position with shield machines 1, 2 in a connected state, a rear trunk part R and a deformed segment 13 is fastened. Then, a tail seal 20 is attached to a middle trunk part M of the shield machine 2, a segment 18 after separation is assembled using an erecter 9, and fastening mechanisms 30, 31 are removed. A segment 17 after separation is assembled to the shield machine 1 so that the shield machine 1 is driven with the segment 17 set to a reaction. When the shield machines 1, 2 are unified, the rear trunk part R and the middle trunk parts M of the driving shield machines 1, 2 are connected in a vertical shaft. A large-diameter tunnel can be thus branched and unified at low cost in a short construction term.
