PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to adequately select the intermediate dehydration time meeting a draining state by making the intermediate dehydration time variable according to the defective and non-defective condition of the draining state with a washing machine having an intermediate dehydration stage for gently increasing a rotating speed until a motor attains the set highest speed during dehydration operation. SOLUTION: The number of times of the 'foam start error' of an EEPROM 22 is read out by a control section 23 after the start of the dehydration operation and the intermediate dehydration time meeting this number of times is selected and executed. When the 'foam start error' occurs in, for example, the state of an intermediate dehydration portion 1, the intermediate dehydration at the time of the next washing is set at a pattern 2. If the 'foam start error' occurs in the state of the intermediate dehydration time pattern 2, the intermediate dehydration at the next washing is set at a pattern 3. When the 'foam start error' occurs during the intermediate dehydration, the dehydration operation is stopped and reserve rinsing is carried out. If the 'foam start error' does not occur during the intermediate dehydration and occurs during the high-speed dehydration, the dehydration operation is similarly stopped and the reserve rinsing is carried out.
