PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the involution of oxidized fume into coating film and to form dense sprayed coating film good in corrosion resistance by mounting a shield cover having an inert gas feed port and a suction port on a thermal spraying torch. SOLUTION: A thermal spraying torch 9 is fitted with a shield cover 11 in which an inert gas feed port 18 and an oxidized fume suction port 16 are formed. From the feed port 18, inert gas (Ar) 12 is continuously flowed into a thermal spraying device, the inside of the shield cover 11 is made into an inert gas atmosphere, and the oxidation of spray particles in the process of flying is prevented. In this state, spray powder 14 is charged from a powder feed port 13 and is melted by a thermal spraying flame 15 from the thermal spraying torch 9, and moreover, while the oxidized fume 17 generated by the thermal spraying flame 15 is continuously sucked from a suction port 16 provided on the side face of the shield cover 11, a substrate 10 is applied with thermal spraying. At this time, in the case the amt. of the inert gas to be fed is defined as Q1 and the amt. to be sucked as Q2, the relation of Q1>=Q2>=10 (1/min) is allowed to satisfy.
