PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject method imparting excellent antibacterial action and enabling the ingestion of not only calcium and magnesium being essential minerals but also a very small amt. of minerals essential to a living body such as zinc, iron, copper, manganese, selenium, iodine and the like. SOLUTION: A baked dolomite powder baked at 600 deg.C or higher or a baked magnesite powder baked at 300 deg.C or higher is brought into contact with water to impart not only antibacterial function but also minerals to water. Or, the abovementioned baked dolomite or magnesite powder is directly added to food or dispersed in water to be sprayed on food or food is immersed in an aq. dispersion of the baked dolomite or magnesite powder to impart antibacterial function and minerals to food.
