PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of readily separating the microbial cell of microorganism. SOLUTION: A divalent or polyvalent metal salt and/or surfactant is added to a suspension of a microbial cell of a microorganism to flocculate and separate the microbial cell of the microorganism. In this case, the surfactant is a cation and has <=500 molecular weight.
