<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress image data without deteriorating image quality and to store it in a memory by Huffman-encoding high order bit image pickup data after prediction encoding, packing low order bit image pickup data and storing a Huffman code and pack data in the memory. SOLUTION: An image processor 1000 transmits CCD-RAW data (image data) held in the memory 60 to a data conversion core 1014 with a memory control circuit 40 and an interface circuit 102. When CCD-RAW data are 12-bit, a dividing and synthesizing circuit 106 divides CCD-RAW data into high order 10-bits and low order 2-bits and PACK (pack)-processes the low order 2-bits by eight data. PACKed data are transmitted to the memory 60. High order 10-bit data are DPCM-converted by a DPCM converting (prediction encoding) circuit 108 and Huffman-encoded by a Huffman encoding and decoding circuit 86 and, then, the data are transmitted to the memory 60.</p> |
