PURPOSE: An internet phone set top box and an internet phone communication method using the same are provided to perform an internet phone service of a PC to PC or a PC to phone mode, thereby directly connecting a telephone to a PSTN and utilizing the telephone as an ordinary phone and the internet phone after connecting the telephone and a PC to the set top box. CONSTITUTION: The internet phone set top box comprises two RF11 jacks(201,202), a subscriber line matching part(204), a sound processor(205), a DTMF receiver(206), a controller(207), an EEPROM(208), audio amps(209,210), a speaker jack(211), a head set(212) and a USB port(213). The subscriber line matching part(204) connects a telephone to a computer. The DTMF receiver(206) decodes a DTMF signal received through the matching part(204). The sound processor(205) transfers key data received from the DTMF receiver(206) in a calling processing step, converts an analog audio signal from the matching part into a digital signal to transfer the converted signal to the computer, and converts a digital signal from the computer into an analog signal to transfer it to the matching part.
