PURPOSE: A flat cathode-ray tube is provided to simplify the structure of a cathode-ray tube and improve the productivity by electrically connecting a band with a film without using an additional electrical conductor. CONSTITUTION: A film(20) has a size larger than that of the entire surface of a panel(1). Thereby, the film(20) is attached to not only the entire surface of the panel(1) but also the side portion of the panel(1). At this time, the corner portion of the film(20) maintains a conventional size, but the side portion of the film(20) extends sufficiently. An extended portion(21) of the film(20) is attached to the side portion of the panel(1). Then, in a state that the extended portion(21) of the film(21) is attached to the side portion of the panel(1), a band(7) with a rectangular frame is compressively coupled to the side portion of the panel(1), thereby obtaining a direct contact between the band(7) and the film(20). Further, a normal bonding tape(8) is bonded between the side portion of the panel(1) and the film(20).
