PURPOSE: A device and a method for operating an automatic vending machine are provided to operate the automatic vending machine according to a local wireless communication between the automatic vending machine and a mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A service device of an automatic vending machine comprises a mobile communication terminal(300), an automatic vending machine(310), a base station(320), a charging system(300) and a managing system(340). An authenticating signal of the mobile communication terminal user is received from the automatic vending machine through a mobile communication network. In conforming the authenticating signal to a previously stored authenticating signal, the checking signal of user authentication is transmitted to the automatic vending machine. Usage information charged of the automatic vending machine is received from the automatic vending machine. A charging is performed by summing up the used charge information of the automatic vending machine and communication charge information of the mobile communication terminal.
