PURPOSE: A process for preparing a sheath-core type polyester binder fiber capable of maintaining hardness and adhesion even at high temperature by introducing a molecular chain having excellent crystallinity and flexibility into a polyethyleneterephthalate main chain is provided, therefore improving excellent tensile strength during the production of nonwoven fabrics. CONSTITUTION: In a process for manufacturing a sheath-core type polyester binder fiber, a copolymer obtained by polycondensing 30 to 50mol% of 1,4-butanediol based on the ester during esterification of an acidic component and a diol component is used as a cis component, wherein adipic acid is added with 1,4-butanediol in an amount of 2 to 10mol% based on the ester.
