PURPOSE: A transflective liquid crystal display is provided to remove the phase shift and the color display error caused by the difference between the optical travelling paths of reflected light and transmitted light. CONSTITUTION: The difference between optical travelling paths(L1,L2) of reflected light and transmitted light corresponds to a thickness(T) of a liquid crystal cell(20). A phase shift compensating film(22) between the lower of the liquid crystal cell(20) and a backlight(BL) compensates for a phase shift corresponding to the difference between the optical travelling paths(L1,L2) of reflected light and transmitted light. The phase shift compensation film(22) delays the phase of the transmitted light emitted from the backlight(BL) and the transmitted light passes through a transflective reflective plate(18), a liquid crystal layer(14) and a polarizer(16). The reflected light has the same phase with transmitted light. Therefore, it is possible to improve the color display error. |
