PURPOSE: A charge settlement system/method of an automatic response system(ARS) using information of a caller, is provided to make a user order public documents or commodities through one telephone speech, and to make a public office or seller secure charges immediately when the public documents or commodities are ordered. And the system/method enables the telephone information ARS to be used as means for settling the charges by using a caller identification(ID) confirming function necessary for settlement approval. CONSTITUTION: A user connects with an automatic response system(ARS) charge settlement system(100) through wired/wireless telephone sets(11,12). A caller identification(ID) and telephone information are respectively transmitted to a caller ID connector(101) and a telephone information/settlement information connector(108). A controller(105) outputs a voice announcement to make a user input the caller ID. The controller(105) compares the telephone information of the caller with telephone information inputted by the user. If the information are not equal, the telephone information is requested to be re-inputted through a voice announcement. If the information are equal, the user is made to input commodity information through a voice announcement. The controller(105) decides whether another commodity order exists. If exists, the step of making the user input the commodity information is performed. If another commodity order does not exist, the controller(105) outputs the ordered commodity information in a telephone information/charge settling database(107) to a telephone information/charge settlement processor(106) to settle the charge. A result for the charge settlement is transmitted to the user in a voice through a wired/wireless communication network(2), and requests the confirmation of the user by the controller(105). If the result is not correct, the charge settlement system is ended. If the result is correct, the result is transmitted to the telephone information/settlement managing system(22) and the user in a voice, and the transmission is confirmed by the controller(105). If the transmission is incapable, the controller(105) informs the user of the cancellation of the commodity order. If the transmission is normally performed, transmitted signals are immediately stored in the telephone information/charge settling database(107), and a specification of the result is transmitted to an ARS charge settlement system connector(31) of a seller network(3) through a seller network connector(104). A management system(32) outputs an ordered commodity list.
