PURPOSE: An on-screen display device for a TV receiver is provided so that various demands of users can be satisfied by reducing a luminance level of a background of an on-screen display region. CONSTITUTION: An YUV decoder(200) receives CVBS IF signal and extracts Y, U and V signals. The Y signal is inputted to a mixer(204), and the U and V signals are inputted to a matrix IC unit(206). A microcomputer(202) outputs OSD R, OSD G and OSD B signals, and generates a half tone(HF) signal corresponding to an OSD region. The OSD R, OSD G and OSD B signals are inputted to the matrix IC unit(206), and the HT signal is inputted to the mixer(204). When receiving the HT signal, the mixer(204) reduces a level of the Y signal, thus outputting Y' signal. The matrix IC unit(206) receives the Y', U, V, OSD R, OSD G and OSD B signals, converts the signals into RGB signals, and outputs the resultant signals to a CRT(208). Accordingly, a level of the RGB signals is reduced in the OSD region. Therefore, an image having a low level is output to the background of the OSD region, thus minimizing an interference of the image of the program due to the OSD. As a result, it is possible to decrease the luminance level of the image of the background of the OSD region. |
