PURPOSE: A method for compensating a picking position by the slave width of a tong crane is provided to improve the efficiency, the stability, the operational convenience and the accuracy of slave picking work with simple switch operation. CONSTITUTION: A method for compensating a picking position by the slave width of a tong crane includes the steps of generating a compensation basic value table by dividing the ranges of minimum width and maximum width produced by the kinds of the slave, into predetermined sections and measuring the compensation value of slave picking position by each section; receiving data related to kinds, the number of sheets, thickness, and width of the slave to be hoisted for calculating the adjustment position of a supporting block on the basis of the compensation basic value table when hoisting the slave(S20-S22); hoisting down the supporting block to the adjustment position and driving picking shoes for performing picking work and hoisting up the picking shoes(S40-S44).
