PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing 1,1-diarylethane which can prepare 1,1-diarylethane with the lower costs and high yields, therefore it is suitable to apply to commercial process. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises alkylating an aromatic hydrocarbon with alpha-methyl benzyl alcohol continuously, in a volume ratio of 1:1-1:10, at the reaction temperature of 100-300deg.C and the reaction pressure of 1-45 kg/cm¬2G, and in the space velocity per weight of reaction feedstock of 0.1-10h¬-1, in the presence of solid acid catalyst system. The aromatic hydrocarbon is at least one selected from the group consisting of benzene, toluene, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, para-xylene, ethylbenzene and trimethylbenzene.
