PURPOSE: A defrosting method for air conditioner is provided to precisely adjust freezing state and melting degree through deciding starting and ending points of defrosting by using a bimetal thermostat. CONSTITUTION: In a heating state, a defrosting operation is performed at a temperature of an outdoor heat exchanger(30') under a selected withdraw temperature of indoor side. Herein, a bimetal thermostat(80') is turned off while stopping an outdoor fan. At a temperature of pipes in the outdoor heat exchanger satisfying operation ratio of heating/defrosting, the heating operation is restarted. Herein, the bimetal thermostat is turned on while operating the outdoor fan. Therefore, temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger is detected by using the bimetal thermostat to decide starting and ending points of defrosting. By change in temperature of the bimetal thermostat, freezing degree in the heating operation is changed.
