PURPOSE: An image encoding and decoding method for error correction is provided to improve compression efficiency by using a new GOB(Group Of Block) structure for protecting the partitioned region when using data partitioning method. CONSTITUTION: The GOB is partitioned with three regions(22,23,24) of a header, a moving vector and a Discrete Cosine Transform Coefficient. At this time, the three regions(22,23,24) are regions that group the respective headers, moving vectors and the Discrete Cosine Transform Coefficients of 8 macro blocks of GOB. A partition table(21) recorded the bit number of the respective partitioned regions is positioned to the left side of the regions in order to partition the respective partitioned three regions(22,23,24). At this time, the length information of the regions being recorded to the partition table(21) as the bit number is determined by changing the maximum length of the respective regions into bit number. A resynchronization marker(20) is selectively added to the front end of the partition table(21). |
