PURPOSE: A fuel amount detecting method is provided to notify an exact fuel amount to a driver by using a fuel-driving pump after supplying fuel. CONSTITUTION: A fuel amount in a fuel tank is detected by calculating a driving time of a fuel-driving pump(S1¯S4) as oil is supplied. A fuel injection time is detected and converted to a fuel consumption amount(S5) as oil is not supplied. Fuel consumption amount data based on the fuel injection time are accumulated(S6¯S7). A current remaining fuel amount is calculated by subtracting the fuel consumption amount from the current fuel amount. The detected value is displayed(S10). Therefore, a fuel amount in the fuel tank is exactly detected regardless of a vehicle state.
