PURPOSE: A method for obtaining an iris image automatically is provided to simplify a process of obtaining a clear iris image. CONSTITUTION: A photographing unit is initialized for obtaining a user's iris image located in a predetermined distance, and a micro computer sets a predetermined size image inputted to a lens about a center of a reference image through the initialization, and decides a tolerance of the reference image(S104). If an image inputted from a lens is escaped the tolerance of the reference image, a micro computer decides as an access of a user(S106). The micro computer outputs an induction message as character messages(S108). The micro computer decides as to whether the user's iris image exists in stored images or not(S110). If the user's iris image does not exist, the (S110) operation is repeated. If the user's iris image exists, the micro computer decides a focus of the iris image using sharpness of a glint reflected on the photographed iris image caused by the user's access and sharpness of a luminescent device positioned at equal intervals in the glint(S112). If a focus of the iris image is not decided, the micro computer informs to the user the status and induces an another input, and if a focus of the iris image is decided, the micro computer decides the image as a clear image and obtains the image(S114).
