Use of a heteropolysaccharide compound (A) containing glucose repeating unit (I), as elicitors of the natural defenses of plants against fungal and/or bacterial and/or viral pathogens, is claimed. Use of a heteropolysaccharide compound (A) containing glucose repeating unit of formula ((A) i-B 1>-C 1>) (I), as elicitors of the natural defenses of plants against fungal and/or bacterial and/or viral pathogens, is claimed. i : 0 or 1; A : uronic sugar preferably glucuronic acid or mannuronic acid; B 1>1-3 glucose moiety, where at least one glucose moiety is optionally substituted by at least one galactose (optionally containing a pyruvate group), preferably glucose moiety of formula (a) or (c); and C 1>galactose moiety or 6-deoxy-2-epimer of galactose, such as 6-deoxy-L-talose (optionally substituted by 3-deoxy-D-manno-oct-2-ulosonic acid and/or by at least one acetate group), where A, B 1>, C 1>are optionally substituted by at least one acetate group, the bond between A and B 1>is 1-4, and the bond between B 1>and C 1>is 1-1 or 1-4. An independent claim is included for a composition comprising (A), at least one surfactant, and phytosanitary molecule comprising fungicide, insecticide, herbicide and/or growth regulator/stimulator.
