摘要 PURPOSE: A method of separating chlorogenic acid and 1,4-di-O-caffeoyl-D-(+)-quinic acid and a composition containing the extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus Max including the same acids are provided to produce a novel antioxidant having the improved activity and stability. The composition is used for medical supplies, cosmetics and food additives. CONSTITUTION: The method of separating chlorogenic acid and 1,4-di-O- caffeoyl-D-(+)-quinic acid of the formula (II) from the extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus Max comprises the steps of: adding water and hexane into the extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus Max to obtain the fragment of n-hexane layer; adding ethylacetate into the fragment of water layer to obtain a water layer and an ethylacetate layer; adding butanol into the water layer to obtain a water layer and butanol layer; purifying the ethylacetate layer and butanol layer by chromatography on silica gel, sephadex packed column chromatography, and ODS packed column chromatography to obtain the compounds of formula (II). The composition contains an effective amount of the extract of Eleutherococcus senticosus Max including the same acids, as an active ingredient.
