PURPOSE: A method for compensating rusting of an oxygen sensor is provided to obtain a feedback signal by changing threshold value considering lagging of a detected signal caused by rusting of an oxygen sensor. CONSTITUTION: An engine control device(10) senses an engine rpm, a changed amount of the engine rpm, an inhaled air quantity, and a changed amount of the inhaled air quantity through sensors. When it is decided that above signal are within a certain range, a switching time detected by inputting output signal of an oxygen sensor(30) is calculated and added up. Average switching time is calculated by deciding whether a certain number of switching time had been sensed and added. The engine control device(10) calculates a lagging degree of the switching time caused by rusting of the oxygen sensor(30), and obtains a compensated lean/rich threshold value.
