PURPOSE: A shift shock reducing apparatus of an automatic transmission is provided to improve shift quality by preventing shift shock in changing into the previous drive/reverse range during shifting from the drive range or the reverse range to the neutral range. CONSTITUTION: A shift shock preventive apparatus of an automatic transmission is composed of a gear selection switch(2) detecting shifting or position of a gear; a transmission control unit(3) receiving the output from the gear selection switch, and controlling hydraulic pressure by compensating to reduce shift shock in changing to the previous drive/reverse range during shifting from the drive range or the reverse range to the neutral range; and a pressure control solenoid valve(4) receiving the output signal from the transmission control unit, and regulating hydraulic pressure. Shift quality is improved with preventing shift shock in returning to the previous drive/reverse range during shifting from the drive range or the reverse range to the neutral range.
