The knob (C) has a base (10) fastened to a first tube (1), which extends through the head (5) holding the covering (6) of the umbrella (B). The head is supported at the top end of a second tube (4) which forms the shaft of the umbrella. The first tube extends concentrically into the second tube. The gently curved end of a spring (3) extends into the lower end of the first tube. It has a projection engaging a ring (2), which slides on the outside of the second tube and holds the inner ends of push-rods (7) supporting the umbrella frame. The lower end of the spring is U-shaped, and engages with the wall of the second tube.
